Habit

It is herb with one meter height. the stem and branches are purple in colour . the leaves are small ,aromatic purple in colour and bilibbed. seeds are very small shinning black.

Medicinal uses of ocimum sanctum \

The leave are used for treating skin and bronchial problems. the oil which obtained from the leave has a good property of destorying insects and bacteria. few drops of leaf-juice are used for curing earache. decoction of leaves along with ginger and black pepper ,used in treating cough, cold and fever.
it is very useful in the making of ayurvedic cough syrup .In recently it uses in major ingredient in preparing cosmetics, soaps, shampoos, powders.
